Everlane was reported to the Deceptive Design Tip Line over how it handles refunds for returned items. According to the report, when returning clothing the return receipt first instructed the reporter to click “Add my Return Credit” to activate store credit for use on Everlane.com, steering them towards spending the money on the site rather than receiving a refund. The report adds that the option to receive a refund to the original payment method was offered only as a last choice, far down at the bottom of the email.

Everlane: Defaults to store credit for returns
“Upon returning clothing from Everlane, the return receipt first instructed me to click ‘Add my Return Credit’ below to activate my Return Credit for use on Everlane.com so I would use the money to shop their site instead of getting a refund to my credit card. Way at the bottom of the email, they offer a refund to the original payment method as a last choice.”
